These two postcards that I worked on today
will become part of two new ship watercolors.
I don't always work on the postcard first...
My kids really liked these on their own,
but I think they will love them even more
when they're finished.

Almost done

There will be only 20 limited edition volumes
of "The Tiny Book of Birds"
available in the shop tomorrow at noon.
I made ten with red corners and ten with turquoise.
The tiny books are acid free & archival quality.
I lovingly hand lettered each of the
teeny book covers.

A beautiful day

Manolo made this kite for the boys today.
I only had hot pink tissue paper...
not very popular with my pre-teen boys.

But I thought it looked so pretty with all
the cosmos that are blooming all around us
these September days.

It was a prefect Sunday,
hope yours was beautiful too.

Tiny Books

"The Tiny Book of Birds" is in production.
I'll let you know as soon as they're available.

The books are 4.5 x 6 cms, archival quality,
signed & numbered. They will include all birdies
from the "20 Birds" series.
They're handmade by me with lotsa love.

Celebration

I'm celebrating my 41st birthday today :)
That's my handsome dad & me
celebrating my birthday numero uno.

for blessing me with another year.

Floating on air

Last year I treated myself
with a gorgeous
2008 Port 2 Port Press calendar.
I hope Maria makes a new one for 2009.

I recently bought a very cool
Photo Clip Mobile
and hung the calendar next to my desk.
I love how the months appear to be floating on air.
It reminds me a little of Ingo Maurer's magical
Zettel'z ceiling lamp.

Looks like my love of birds started early.
My mom would bribe me into eating
by putting the canary on the table for me to look at.

Thank you notes

I made myself some birdie notes to write
some lines to the lovely folks that buy my prints.
I hand carved the three elements
out of Staedtler's MasterCarve carving block
with my trusty Speedball lino cutter.
And printed them on Fabriano watercolor paper,
with acid free Color Box ink pads.
